Increases alkalinity in recirculating aquatic systems, as well as pH to a maximum value of 9.20. In systems with depressed potassium and elevated sodium and chloride values (commonly a result of prolonged two- and three-part calcium and alkalinity utilization), Carbon8 K assists with increasing the [K+] and alkalinity values, without addition of sodium or chloride which would otherwise continue to skew ionic ratios of major ions. This formulation should be applied in lieu of sodium-based buffer compounds to adjust and maintain alkalinity within the desired range until such time as the [K+] has reached the standardized value. At that time, dose Carbon8 K only as the K depletion rate in the system dictates. Failing this, and continuing to dose according to alkalinity depletion when that rate exceeds the rate of K depletion, the [K+] will gradually rise beyond the standardized value. In order to avoid this circumstance, increase alkalinity production of calcium reactor (if applicable), or switch to a properly-formulated sodium-based alkalinity blend whenever the [K+] exceeds the desired or standardized value. Potassium: 89,965 mg/L; 160,000 mg/L total carbonate species.
Active Component(s): Potassium salts of bicarbonate, carbonate, and borate, USP-grade.
