Customized solution for addressing ionic deficiencies identified by our review of customer-provided ICP analysis.

There are two solution variants: Minor/Trace/K/Br/B/F and Mg/Ca/Sr.

The Minor/Trace/K/Br/B/F solution comprises of critical minor and trace elements, as well as K, Br, B, and F, as dictated by the ICP interpretation performed.  Please scroll down to see the list of elements.  Rb inclusion is available as an option (please refer to the bottom of the page for additional information).

The Mg/Ca/Sr solution comprises of Mg, Ca, and Sr, as called for in the interpretation of the ICP data.

Solutions are prepared in full 1 L increments. The number of L ordered should reflect the findings of the interpretation in question.

There are three table variants:

  • PURPLE TABLES are formulated according to natural seawater values.  This set of tables is most suitable for the majority of aquarium enthusiasts who prefer to simplify their water chemistry goals by basing them upon natural seawater ratios, which have persisted on the planet for several million years and are therefore suitable for maintaining all manner of marine organisms within the confines of a recirculating marine ecosystem such as an aquarium.  Purple tables incorporate the immediate dosing corrections required, and therefore provide a gradual increase in ionic values that is more gentle on system inhabitants than when making large, acute increases in ionic values over a shorter span of time.  It is for this reason that purple tables are recommended for most system administrators/technicians and aquarists.
  • GREEN TABLES are based upon the purple table calculations, however they omit the immediate dosing corrections which are incorporated into the purple tables.  This set of tables can be used for ongoing maintenance of ionic values after a period of dosing according to purple tables, until the next ICP analysis is performed and interpreted.  For example, if a client would like to stretch the frequency of ICP analysis to once every 4 months, then they would order a 30-day purple solution and three 30-day green solutions, pulling a sample for analysis 20 days before the last green solution runs out.  The 20 day period enables time for a sample to be drawn and mailed to the ICP service, and for the results to be interpreted and a new purple solution to be made and shipped.  Then, the client can repeat the ordering process if desired.  If using the Green Table MDS without a dosing period of Purple Table MDS, then client must follow dosing instructions on Immediate Dosing Requirements tab of the calculator prior to commencing dosing with the Green Table MDS.
  • RED TABLES are based upon user-defined target values, which may be quite different than standardized natural seawater values.  Recommended is to have the interpretation of the most recent ICP analysis in hand before ordering 'red table' solutions, to ensure that the appropriate volume of MDS is ordered.  If ordering according to red table calculations prior to having us perform the interpretation of ICP data, then anticipate that an additional charge may be applied if the volume of MDS exceeds the quantity that has been ordered.  Note: we reserve the right to formulate the MDS such that the target value of Rb does not exceed the standardized value by more than 20%.  Clientele dosing according to their own target values should be sufficiently experienced such that they do not place their systems in danger as a result of their target ion preferences.

The default dosing period for the Master Dosing Solution is 30 days.  We also offer a solution based upon 45 days of dosing.  This option is useful for users who would like to build in an additional time frame beyond the 30 day standard period, during which time they will have drawn a new sample for ICP analysis and are awaiting results, and can continue dosing the critical component ions without interruption.  Users are encouraged to draw a sample at the 30-day mark in order to mitigate the likelihood that dosing will be interrupted due to unforeseen delays in report interpretation and preparation/shipping of the next MDS.

The complete ordering process requires that the customer provides us with a copy of their ICP analysis, or a link to review it online.  Following this, a customized master dosing solution with a volume in full 1 L increments is formulated and ships within 1 - 4 business days.  The customer can further dilute this master solution with their own purified water if desired.

Elements which may be included in the Minor/Trace/K/Br/B/F master dosing solution:

  • B
  • Ba
  • Br
  • Co
  • Cr
  • Cu
  • F*
  • Fe
  • I
  • K
  • Mn
  • Mo
  • Ni
  • Rb**
  • Se
  • V
  • Zn

*If the ICP report includes F as a parameter, then F dosing (if required) is based upon the calculated deficiency.  If F was not included as an analyte in the ICP analysis, then this element (again, if required) is included at a strength corresponding to 1 drop Isol8 F per 100 gallons system volume per day.

**Isol8 Rb is available as an add-on; be certain to select that option ONLY if the ICP report that you have provided includes Rb as an analyte (and only if you are interested in dosing Rb, of course).  If Rb is missing from the ICP report, or if the report indicates that Rb was not measured, then order the standard version of this solution, which does not include Isol8 Rb.

An optional addition is a 30-mL bottle of Isol8 MT, including a dropper cap, for interim dosing if you have run out of the minor/trace MDS and/or are awaiting components to arrive for preparation of a new MDS.  During such a period, Isol8 MT may be applied as a means of ensuring that ions critical to photosynthesis and associated biochemical reactions are continuing to enter the system on a daily basis.  If desired, then Isol8 MT can be diluted into a larger volume of purified water and dosed through an automated approach or by hand.  Once you have resumed dosing the MDS, discontinue dosing Isol8 MT.  Dosing instructions are provided within the body of the email that accompanies the interpretation.  Even in a densely-stocked 250 gallon reef system with algal filtration, a single 30-mL bottle of Isol8 MT will last 30 days.
